PIE Section Objectives
The Parasitism, Immunity and Environment Section of the Canadian Society of Zoologists (CSZ) was established in 2011 to provide a venue for interchange among individuals interested in the interrelationships at all levels among infectious agents, the response to animals to these agents and the environment in which these relationships exist.
The PIE Section represents an evolution of the Parasitology Section of the Canadian Society of Zoologists, which was established in 1974 to promote and advance the study of parasitic organisims and facilitate the exhange of information among parasitologists in Canada.

Nominations for Wardle Medal
Deadline: October 1 2023
The PIE Section promotes the study of the interrelationships at all levels among infectious agents, the response of animals to these agents, and the environment in which these relationships exists. The Wardle Award honours individuals for their outstanding contributions to Canadian-based research on the fields of study promoted by the PIE Section.
Nominations and supporting documentation should be submitted electronically to the Chair-Elect of the PIE section, and Chair (Coordinator) of the Recognition Committee: Dr. Emily Jenkins, emily.jenkins@usask.ca
Nominations for PIE Executive
Nominations for the position of 2024-2025 Chair-Elect and Student Executive positions can be forwarded to Dr. Laura Ferguson, Chair (laura.ferguson@acadiau.ca), or be presented at the PIE Section AGM.
